Rajasthan

Been there recently?

Just the name of Rajasthan is popular enough to evoke the images of its vibrant folk music and dance, massive forts and palaces, delicious foods, colourful and massive turbans, unending golden sand desert, camels, and wonderful handicrafts. Goes without saying how great a location it is and what a superb holiday spot in India. Rajasthan, which spans 342239 square kilometres, is suitable for history and culture buffs, adventure seekers, wildlife enthusiasts, family vacations, honeymoons, and whatnot. Rajasthan’s Havelis, palaces, and forts contribute to the sense of visiting a wealthy Indian state. Rajasthan’s most popular forts include Chittorgarh, Mehrangarh, Jaisalmer, Jaigarh, and Junagadh. The Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur is the largest and sits on a 125-kilometre-high hill. Asia’s largest fort, Chittorgarh, is another must-see in the state. It’s 700 acres long and 13 kilometres wide. Rajasthan offers beautiful Hindu and Jain temples like Dilwara Jain Temples and Eklingji Temple. Rajasthan has many fairs and festivals: The Desert Festival, Bikaner Camel Festival, Nagaur Fair, Pushkar Fair, Elephant Festival, Mewar Festival, Mount Abu Winter Festival, Gangaur Festival, and Teej reflect the state’s unique traditions, customs, folk dance, and music. Rajasthan’s wildlife tourism sector thrives despite its hot, dusty climate. It has tiger and bird sightings. Ranthambore, Sariska, Keoladeo, and Mukundra Hills national parks are well-known in the state. Ranthambore National Park and Sariska National Park are noted for Royal Bengal Tigers. Keoladeo National Park (Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with 230 bird species. Bharatpur Sanctuary is home to Sambar, Chital, Nilgai, and Boar, as well as indigenous and migratory aquatic birds like the Siberian Crane. Rajasthan also has leopards, blackbuck, the Indian spotted eagle, and marsh crocodiles.
